Microsoft joins the tablet game

In a press conference yesterday evening in Los Angeles Microsoft finally launched its own tablet.

The tablet known as Surface comes in two types, one powered by the ARM chipset running Windows RT and the other powered by 22nm Intel Ivy Bridge chips running Windows 8 Pro.

Microsoft also announced a Surface Touch Cover with integrated multitouch keyboard, at an amazingly thin 3mm, it attaches to the Surface tablet via magnets, and a Touch Cover at a slightly thicker 5mm, but providing a full tactile keyboard.
