From 15th April Sophos will be releasing a larger than usual (up to 140MB) update for their Endpoint Security and Control software.
Although this is not large in comparison to some Microsoft Updates it may still be something you want to plan for especially if you have remote users on poor links or a large number of Endpoints in your environment.
The update includes the following:
- Improvements to Windows 8 support.
- Improved support for the Windows 8 modern user interface.
- Device control can block smart phones based on MTP/PTP protocols
- Minor changes to antivirus information details.
The update will require a reboot to take effect, however your computer will remain fully protected until you restart your computer.
The actual update size will vary depending on components you have installed.
Component | MB |
---|---|
Sophos Anti-Virus | 59 |
Sophos AutoUpdate | 30 |
Sophos Client Firewall | 25 |
Sophos Patch Agent | 15 |
Sophos Competitor Removal Tool (CRT) | 4 |
If you are a SBS or server administrator you will have seen the Sophos Messenger notification, but as an end user / business owner you may not be aware of the future update.
