It been a busy couple of months with two Exchange migrations, one from SBS 2008 to Exchange 2013 and another from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016 so this post is a little late coming!

On 14th March Microsoft released the Exchange 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 13.

I installed Update Rollup 13 on my test SBS 2011 server this evening and it took just 9 minutes from start to finish, so I wouldn’t expect it to take much longer than this in production.

The new update was released today so please test before installing into your production environment. Maybe even wait a few days or a week or two to make sure the QA is up to scratch on it.

For migrations to Exchange 2016, Exchange 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 11 is the minimum version that will be supported in a coexistance environment.

On 15th September Microsoft released the Exchange 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 11.

I’ve installed this on my test SBS 2011 server, it took just 7 minutes 45 seconds from start to finish, by far the quickest update yet and my test server isn’t very powerful, so I wouldn’t expect it to take much longer than this in production.

The new update has been available for a few weeks now, and I have not seen any issues reported with it so I suspect it is safe to deploy in your production environment.

On 16th June Microsoft released the Exchange 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 10.

I’ve installed this on my test SBS 2011 server, it took just 21 minutes 23 seconds from start to finish, more than twice as long as the last update rollup, but my test rig was running a few other processes at the same time, so I wouldn’t expect this to take much longer than this in production.

On 17th March Microsoft released the Exchange 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 9. I’ve waited a bit longer than usual to test and depoly the update due to the issues with Update Rollup 8 being released and then pulled, then re-released a few days later.

I’ve installed this on my test SBS 2011 server, it took just 9 minutes 30 seconds from start to finish, and my test SBS server isn’t very powerful. So I wouldn’t expect this to take much longer than this in production.

Exchange 2010 Management Console Initialization Failed: The WS-Management service cannot process the request

Microsoft Exchange 2010 SP2 Update Rollup 6

I recently ran across a small problem while trying to open the Exchange 2010 Management Console. I received an initialization failure error message.

The full error message is below:
“The attempt to connect to http://server/Powershell user ‘Kerberos’ authentication failed: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: The WS-Management service cannot process the request. The system load quota of 1000 requests per 2 seconds has been exceeded. Send future requests at a slower rate or raise the quota for this user. The next request from this user will not be approved for at least xx milliseconds.”

Exchange Management Console - The ws-management service cannot process the request

To resolve the problem, I opened a command prompt and ran iisreset.

Command Promotp - iisreset
